Means of Grace, Day Apart for Spiritual Formation

Means of Grace | Day Apart for Spiritual Formation is a two-year program which offers a day apart every quarter where the participants will learn about John Wesley’s means of grace and their potential for spiritual transformation. The leadership team for this program has heard the call to co-labor with God and the local church in making of disciples for the transformation of the world. More here

Academy for Spiritual Formation Five-day Spiritual Academy
September 10-15, 2017

A program of Upper Room Ministries, the 5-Day Academy provides an opportunity for clergy and laity to deepen their relationship with God through a daily rhythm of prayer, worship, learning and reflection. Each day includes teachings by gifted spiritual leaders, periods of silence, morning and evening prayer, Eucharist, covenant groups and community time. Time for rest and recreation are also part of each day. The focus of this year's retreat is The Disciples' Way. More here

One Day - An Annual Ministry for Adults 50
September 16, 2017

The Conference Older Adult Ministries will host their annual event, One Day, on September 16, 2017. The event will be held at Ozark First UMC and will begin at 10:00 am until 2:30 pm (registration begins at 9:30 am). Keynote speaker will be Bishop David Graves. The program will include special music and break-out sessions on "Grandparenting by Boomers," "Communities of Transformation" and "Online and Phone Safety." More here

AWF Historical Society Meeting
September 21, 2017

Everyone is welcome to attend the next meeting of the Alabama-West Florida Conference Historical Society. We will be meeting at the First United Methodist Church in Pensacola, Florida. This church dates back to 1821 when a mission was established by the Mississippi Conference and the Reverend Alexander Talley was appointed as a missionary to Pensacola. Mid-career Retirement Seminar
October 5, 2017

This one-day seminar provides vital information regarding the needs of pastors who still have 15 to 25 years before retiring. We encourage spouses to join in this seminar and sharing in the preparations for the future. If you register by the deadline, you will be provided with a current, up-to-date copy of your UM pension projection. A representative from WESPATH will be available to answer questions. Presentations will include information on Social Security, Taxes, Health Insurance and Health Care, as well as Debt Management and Financial Planning. More here

Healing Ministries Workshop (CBOD)
October 7-8, 2017

The Board of Discipleship has developed a series of workshops that will equip churches with tools necessary to live out the SEND model of discipleship. Our first effort is a workshop for Lay and Clergy. There IS a Balm in Gilead: Healing Ministries Through Your Local Church will feature Jeff Kirby from Church of the Resurrection. This workshop begins with theory/theology and will build towards practice. We will weave in real stories along the way. We plan to conclude with a Service of Healing. Wesley Heirs Fall Gathering
October 10-11, 2017

Wesley Heirs is a group of Alabama-West Florida Conference clergy retirees (and spouses) and surviving spouses. This group meets twice a year, but there are smaller meetings held within Districts that meet monthly or quarterly. Wesley Heirs will host their Fall Gathering October 10 - 11, 2017 at Blue Lake. They will have a "getting to know you" session with Bishop David and Mrs. Graves.  Bishop Graves will also preach at the Memorial Service on Wednesday morning. More here

At The Table: An Intentional Multi-Ethnic Gathering

“A Place at the Table" is a gathering of ethnic believers (lay and clergy) seeking to have intentional conversations about inclusion and unity throughout the Church. We confess that God’s heart for the Church is that we be a community of diverse believers, working and serving together for the transformation of the world. It is our prayer that this time of intentional conversation will aid in establishing commonality, creating community and bringing clarity of purpose to all our ethnic members and churches within the Alabama-West Florida Conference. 2017-2020 Spiritual Direction Training
November 13-16, 2017

The three-year Spiritual Direction Training, hosted by Sacred Space Spiritual Formation, is suited to those who hunger to experience deeper intimacy with God, to grow in attentiveness to God’s movement, are drawn to compassionate listening, feel a call to companion others on the spiritual journey, and seek spiritual community with others.
