This week's news.............
October 1, 2015
The Rev. Harold Bordages passed away this Wednesday, September 30th. Rev. Bordages was currently serving Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church and he served Ebenezer UMC here in the Mobile District from 2007-09. Many of you may know that his wife Eleanor passed away January 28, 2015.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Pisgah United Methodist Church from 6 - 7 pm on Saturday, October 3, 2015. Service will follow at 7:00 pm. Please keep the Bordages' family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Local Church Report Training
There will be training at St Mark United Methodist Church on October 15th at 6:30pm. Frank Dunnewind will be spending some time with us talking about how to correctly complete the Local Church Report, its importance and how it effects apportionments. See you there!!
Imagine No Malaria Campaign
The Alabama West Florida Conferenceis very close to our goal of saving 100,000 lives and helping to wipe out malaria in Africa. Although the Mobile District has already reached 107% of our goal, we want to try to help the rest of the conference finish this out. The AWF Conference has raised an amazing $960,000 toward our goal of $1,000,000 for Imagine No Malaria. Only $5,000 from each of our 8 districts will put us over the top.
So in the next few weeks we want to give churches who desire a chance to go the second mile for Imagine No Malaria. I don't want to make anyone or any church feel guilty. We have met our goal. Some churches have gone way beyond their goal (as much as 300%!) We can feel good about that. But some of our sister churches in other districts have not been able to reach their goals, so if you feel led to participate in helping a bit more, now is the time to do that. We already have an individual who has committed $1,000 toward this goal of $5,000 extra from the Mobile District. So we are 20% of the way already!
Don't twist any arms. Don't pressure anyone. I feel sure we will meet this second mile goal just by making it known. So spread the word to your congregation and let's see what God does. Thank you for your joyful faithfulness. I am proud of the Mobile District!

United Methodist Development Fund - How We Can Partner With You?
The Development Fund would like to help your church build, expand, or renovate. We loan money to churches at rates that are significantly lower than typical commercial rates and we offer loan terms of up to 15 years. In addition, the Development Fund charges no points or closing costs.
Because we are a non-profit that serves our conference, the Development Fund Board is made up of United Methodists with financial backgrounds and also has experience complying to the Book of Discipline guidelines for building and loan projects. The reward received from helping churches like Navarre is "why we do what we do," says Terri Turner, Executive Director of the Alabama-West Florida United Methodist Foundation.
When considering finance options for your next project we invite you to fill out a loan application at www.alwfumf.org.
To get started on a new loan for your ministry, contact Terri at 334-793-6820 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
