The QuadW Missional Internship is an 8-week, paid, summer internship for college-age young adults. The internship will be in at least 10 cities across the US with positions for as many as 100 interns!

The interns will experience the rhythms of living in Christian community with one another - eating, praying, studying, worshiping and SERVING together.

We believe that growth and transformation happen best through an action/reflection model of discipleship. So that the primary experience of the intern will be time spent relationally serving with and among those in need, in the context in which they are living. They'll be partnering with local churches and other ongoing ministries there. Then, we intentionally pull back to reflect and pray, read Scripture and discuss the ways we hear and see God at work and how we may even more faithfully join God in the work God is doing in the world.

This is a great way to facilitate an openness to God's mission and work that helps young adults take steps in saying "Yes!" to the vocation that is set before each and every Christian.

2017 Paddle Skedaddle!

Saturday, June 3rd 2017 - 9am to 2pm

Spend the morning on the water racing (or moseying) this 1.5 mile course with your family or as an individual!  There will be awards, lots of fair games & concessions on the grounds!

This family-friendly event will take place at 5 Rivers (off the Causeway) on the June 3rd.  Boats launch from the launch site in front of Delta Safaris and line up at the docks at 5 Rivers.  Spectators will cheer the boat teams as they start from the docks and race around a small island at the end of the cut-through that connects Sardine Pass with Justin’s Bay.

While contestants are on the water, there are lots of fun activities for adults and children.  There will be food and fair games galore.  After the race, there will be awards given in a number of categories including, “parent/child teams”, “most creatively dressed team”, “loudest cheering section”, the coveted “Pews & Canoes Award” for the church with the most supporters there, etc.

1st Annual Inner City Mission Gala Announced

For over 41 years the United Methodist Inner City Mission has served the needs of those who are hopeless, hungry, and homeless. The Mission provides ministries to address the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the community and offer hope for a brighter future.

In 2004, the Mission took over the operations of Taylor Park on Baltimore Street. The after school and summer tutorial program is one of the best in the city. The program in 2016, documented a 20% increase in reading scores.

In 2017, the Mission and the Advisory Board, with your help, would like to expand its summer tutorial program. This summer during the months of June and July (eight weeks) we will be starting a summer enrichment program. This program will be designed specifically for the needs of the children of our  community. It will serve children in elementary school, kindergarten through eighth grade. The program will provide breakfast, lunch, and a snack to serve the nutritional needs of the children. It will also provide a quality academic program. The cost of the program is $100.00 per child. This covers all aspects of the program, including transportation and educational field trips.

We would like your support in this effort. We are hosting a Gala, May18, 2017 at Helena II, 1568 St. Stephens Road, Mobile, Alabama 36603.  The cost of the Gala is the sponsorship of one child. The Gala will consist of a short program, dinner, and an opportunity to hear about how Taylor Park has changed the lives of young people in the community.

Your donation and support would be appreciated; your presence at the Gala would be a blessing. Please consider our request. The Inner City Mission is a 501c3 charitable organization as recognized by the IRS.

Honorable Herman Thomas J.D.
Chairman
