2017 Annual Conference: In Review

Annual Conference was filled with inspirational worship, teaching sessions, celebrations, fellowship and opportunities to participate in the business of the Alabama West Florida Conference.

At the opening worship service on Sunday evening The Rev. Robin Wilson, Senior Pastor of Dauphin Way UMC, preached an inspiring sermon based on Ephesians 3:7-21 entitled, "More Than We Imagine."

Two of our pastors serving at Ashland Place UMC were a part of the Service of Commissioning and Ordination this year.  Amanda Messer was ordained as a Deacon in Full Connection and Tomas Irby was commissioned as a Provisional Elder.

Also honored from the Mobile District was Brett Herndon from Chickasaw UMC.  Brett was this year’s youth recipient of the Harry Denman Evangelism Award.

From Dumas Wesley Community Center

It’s that time again! We are excited for our children to experience Mother Nature at her finest at the United Methodist Church’s Blue Lake Camp Discovery in Andalusia, Alabama. We are expecting around 20 children to attend and are delighted that our youth will have a chance to enjoy nature and outdoor challenges as well as worship, authentic relationships and memorable learning experiences.

The cost of camp this year is $180.00 per child and we hope you will prayerfully consider a gift to help underwrite this program. Your sponsorship will allow children to take a break from the challenges of everyday life and, for some, enjoy their first camp experience!

It is our fervent desire that no child is denied a camp experience due to financial lack. Your support is important to us. Your prayers are treasured. Your help is greatly appreciated in whatever way it is given.

Male volunteers needed!!!

Blue Lake needs 6 male volunteers for Launch camp, June 26-30.   We have boys who are currently on a waiting list to come to camp and cannot allow them to come to camp without male volunteers.  A volunteer for this age group must be at least 19 years old and pass a background check.  Please pray for this opportunity to be at camp and help lead kids to a relationship with Christ.

We need your help to make sure every child that wants to come to camp can, please help spread the word.   Call Paige or Jeff at 334-222-5407.

QuadW Interns are coming!

We are so excited to have nine QuadW Missional Interns here in the Mobile District this summer! They will be leading a summer camp for elementary and middle school aged children.  Their focus will be to become mentors to these children as they teach about God, school curriculum, and life skills.
We need your help to make this the best experience for the interns. These nine young adults will live in an intentional community without all the comforts of home. Please help us stock their pantry for the summer!  Below are some suggested items but feel free to contribute any item that would help them survive the summer!  Also!! -  We are in need of a second vehicle for the interns. If someone or a church has a vehicle or a van that we could use for the summer, it would be greatly appreciated.
Please contact the District Office or Katy Wrona at (724) 889-6754 to drop off donations or if you have any questions. Thank you!!!
