Welcome Reception Postponed

Dear Mobile District Clergy and Friends,
As many of you are aware, Bishop Paul Leeland and the cabinet members of the Alabama-West Florida Conference are actively engaged in the work of adjusting appointments as a result of Dr. Lawson Bryan's election and appointment to serve as the new bishop of the South Georgia Annual Conference.  Due to these circumstances, the welcome reception for the new Mobile District Superintendent and family has been postponed.  A new date for the reception shall be announced in the near future.  We apologize for any inconvenience to previous planning, and are especially grateful for the flexible accommodations of our gracious host for this event, Ashland Place UMC.
As always, your prayers for this work are appreciated.

This one day seminar provides vital information regarding the needs of pastors who still have fifteen or more years before retiring. We encourage spouses to come as well.  Click here to see brochure with more details.

Historical Society to meet at St Stephens UMC

Laity and clergy are invited to the annual meeting of the Alabama-West Florida Historical Society September 15, 2016 at 9:30am.  The meeting will be held at Saint Stephens UMC here in the Mobile District.  You do not have to be a member of the Historical Society to attend and this would be an interesting outing for your Older Adult Ministries.

There will be guest speakers from the 18th and 19th centuries and you will also learn about the St. Stephens United Methodist Church which was built around 1857.  The main sanctuary of this church is the original structure and was listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks & Heritage on March 25, 1976.

Preregistration is required by September 8th; a catered lunch is included in the registration fee of $20.    Click here to find a brochure or visit the Historical Society website at

 Becoming a Healthy, Growing Church

The Alabama-West Florida Conference and Crosspoint United Methodist Church presents Becoming a Healthy, Growing Church August 26 – 27, 2016 at Crosspoint UMC in Niceville, FL.  If you have been in ministry long you know growing a church is not easy, and you probably have the scars to prove it.  But, if a church is not healthy it is nearly impossible!  Crosspoint is a healthy church that is seeing incredible growth.  They now have the largest worship attendance of any church in our conference and are the 9th fastest growing large membership church in our denomination.  The Crosspoint staff will be sharing the principles they have learned, the mistakes they have made, and the changes they have undergone to double their attendance in the last 10 years.   Click here to find more information.
