Early Disaster Response Training (ERT)

Be prepared to respond to the next disaster. Early Response Training covers the basics of early disaster response, including roof tarping, cleaning out damaged homes, spiritual and emotional care, team protocols, and more. Click here for a description of what well-trained ERT teams look like. Click here for "Seven Important things to know about Disaster Spiritual and Emotional Care."

Proper credentials are required for individuals and teams responding in the first few days after a disaster. Participants who successfully complete this training will receive those credentials, including an ERT badge.

Training sessions are open to all people ages 18 . All participants must either have a background check done or bring proof of a background check from an employer or church.

To schedule a training for your church, contact Susan Hunt at 334-356-8014.

Upcoming Disaster Early Response Team Training sessions:

April 21, 2018 - Cokesbury UMC, Pensacola

Clergy Quadrennial Sexual Ethics Training

All clergy are required by the AWF Board of Ordained Ministry to attend Sexual Ethics training every quadrennial.  There are three opportunities for you to comply with this requirement:

Again, this is a mandatory requirement each clergy must meet.  Please place one of these events on your calendars now!  An email with more information about the requirements of this event was sent earlier to all clergy.  Click here to view if you missed it!

Mass Choir Info for AC 2018

Frazier UMC has been asked again this year to have singers from all over the conference join their choir  to make a mass chorus for the opening worship service on June 3rd.  It has been a real thrill at past conference services to see a great choir from all of our churches singing together.  Click here to find out how your singers can participate in this wonderful worship service.

Fountain of Love Offering Focuses On Mother’s Day

As we approach Mother’s Day, it is our hope that your church will celebrate mothers through the taking of a Mother’s Day Offering for the Fountain of Love. The Fountain of Love Fund provides financial assistance to older adults living in a Methodist Home retirement community who find that they can no longer pay for their entire care Because of the support of the Alabama-West Florida Conference and its churches, no resident has ever been asked to leave a Methodist Home due to their inability to pay.

To order the FREE Fountain of Love Offering materials for your church online, visit www.methodisthomes.org/FountainOfLovePortal.html, and complete the form!  For more information about the Fountain of Love or Methodist Homes, explore our website at www.methodisthomes.org, or call 205-951-2442.
