Important Dates To Remember

New Semester Begins for Students at USA Wesley Foundation

A a new semester begins the USA Wesley Foundation wants to continue the tradition of providing meals each Tuesday night. We are seeking volunteers to help provide this meal each week.  This is an important time in the lives of these young students and what a great opportunity for you to show hospitality and get to know them as they grow in their relationship with Christ!  They expect to feed approximately 40 folks each week. Wesley will have paper products and drinks so you only need the meal... but be sure to include a dessert – we are talking about college students you know.  :-)  You are welcome to stay and eat with the students or you may simply drop off the food at the Wesley Foundation by 5:30pm. This could be a great project for your Sunday School Class or a small group within your church.
Please consider supporting the students of The Wesley Foundation in this way and contact Missy Smith at mesmith@southalabama.edu to volunteer today!

Know someone facing a transition in his or her life?

Stephen Ministry at Christ UMC is available to assist individuals through these times of transition.  Stephen Ministers will walk with individuals who need a little encouragement during difficult times and they will be there as long as the need exists.

Stephen Ministers are lay people—Christian men and women—trained to provide one-to-one care to people experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, relocation, or separation due to military deployment.

Stephen Ministers come from all walks of life. Their commonality? A passion for bringing Christ’s love and care to people during a time of need.

If you know of someone who is facing one of life’s transitions, please refer them to Donna Alexander at 251.510.0905. Your call is confidential.

Disaster Response Update

(AWFUMC) The year 2016 brought many disasters to the United States, including throughout the Southeast. There is still a need for volunteers, and there will be future needs for volunteers. When cameras and media attention leave a disaster area, so do many of the volunteers. Recovery from disasters can take months and even years. If you would like to volunteer in these efforts, please click here to see a list of opportunities. Most of these opportunities do not require ERT badges.

For additional opportunities in Southeastern Jurisdiction annual conferences not listed, click here to visit the UMVIM-SEJ website.
