SAVE THE DATE!
Our Annual Mobile District Conference will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 31st. More details will be forthcoming but please place this date on your church calendars now!
A Note to AWF Conference Early Responders
There is major flooding happening in areas of South Carolina. First, please keep the people there in your prayers, especially the first responders as they rescue those trapped by the water. You may read more about the situation from Bishop Jonathon Holston here.
For those of you who have current ERT credentials, at this time please be on standby. We are not deploying early response teams (ERT) yet, but Amelia Fletcher includes the note below from the SC coordinators so that when the call is made, we may respond. If you have questions, please contact Amelia Fletcher at firstname.lastname@example.org, and 251-968-2549 (office) or 251-978-8384 (cell).
Please do not deploy until called. We will keep you posted.
SC Conf: We are very actively assessing damage from flooding rains and such associated with Hurricane Joaquin across our state. There is damage in many areas, but seems to be more so from the midlands to the coast. Some hard hit areas we know of now are: Richland County, some areas of Lexington; Charleston, Dorchester and Florence Counties. There are other pocket such as Holly Hill and Eutoawville in Orangeburg County & Horry County that we know have a few homes damaged though there may be more. We anticipate that this list will grow dramatically. Six of our twelve districts will have critical needs.
We will continue to assess tomorrow and probably start sending out SC ERT Teams (maybe Tuesday), Wednesday – on to areas that have been deemed safe and secure. Some areas may take a week or so for the water to subside enough for us to enter.
This will mainly be a mud muck out response, which can take a lot of hours for each home. Please remember to hydrate, take breaks, and make sure a home is structurally safe before working and stay out of contaminated water as much as possible. Due to the potential magnitude of this event we will most surely be bringing in ERT Teams for other states.

Support needed for the Annual Dumas Wesley Christmas Toy Store
One of the most beloved events each year is the Annual Christmas Toy Store at Dumas Wesley Community Center. The event serves 75 lower income families in surrounding neighborhoods by giving them the opportunity to buy new toys and bikes at a fraction of their retail value. This year the Toy Store will take place Saturday, December 12th. We need the help of our United Methodist family and others to provide the toys that will be sold. Click here for more details on how to participate and/or contribute. All donations need to arrive at Dumas Wesley by December 9th. More information can be found at www.dumaswesley.org
