     April is “Walking and Physical Activity Month”. Physical activity is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

     Because we live in a fast-pace, stressful world, sometimes, we can’t find time to fit into our busy schedules time for exercising. Making time for physical activity such as walking, jogging, swimming, biking, or aerobics, can help in coping with the stress of your daily life. One simply inexpensive exercise that can be done anywhere is walking. By simply walking, you can lose weight, manage your health and feel better about yourself. “Walking conditions your heart and lungs”. “Walking fights the battle of the bulge by reducing fat and building muscle.”

     Exercise and physical activity are a great way to feel better, boost your health and have fun. Aim for at least 150 minutes per week of exercise. For those who are confined to the office or unable to walk, I have attached 2 information pieces with options for in-office physical activity that can be done on your morning or afternoon break.


     Also, the Board of Pension & Health Benefits is encouraging all health participants to be a part of the “Walk @ Lunch Day”, which is April 26th. Turn you working lunch into a walking lunch at your office location. Walk for 30 minutes of your lunch for the health of it. Please encourage your co-workers to join you in the walk.

     Remember to check with your doctor before starting a new exercise routine.
