This week's news...................

July 7, 2016

ATTENTION ALL CLERGY

A big THANK YOU to all who have completed the HealthQuotient and Biometric Screening that was launched on January 1, 2016.  So far we have only 15 pastors that have not met the requirements of this screening as set by the Conference Board of Pension & Health Benefits.  As a reminder, if not completed by August 31, 2016 a $50 premium will be deducted from the pastor's individual salary each month starting January 1, 2017.  This premium shall not be paid by the church.  This surcharge will remain in effect for all of 2017.  Unfortunately, completion of the requirement after September 1, 2016 will not reduce the 12 month surcharge.

The goal of the program is to encourage our pastors and their dependents to live healthier lifestyles by providing them with personal health information, screening and coaching, thus helping the Conference to reduce and control the cost of health insurance claims.  Click here to find more information on how to meet the requirements involved.

From the Fiscal Office:  Attention Clergy ages 25 through 39

Dear Friends:

The two the most frequent comments I hear from clergy persons when I meet with them  has to do with retirement planning and age.

From the younger clergy it is “ I (we) don’t have enough money and we have plenty of time to prepare for retirement.”  From the retiring clergy, discovering what they have for retirement it is “if I had known this earlier!”

Well, for clergy ages 25 through 39 the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits has an opportunity for you experience a new realm of information for life planning. It is called Rev-it-Up.

The Conference Board of Pension believes that your participation is so important that it is going to invest in you! It will reimburse you your registration fee of $119.00 if you register by October 7, 2016 and reimburse an additional $115.00 either as mileage or if you take advantage of the GBOPHB’s babysitter assistance.

From the United Methodist Archives Center

The Methodist Archives Center (MAC) is having to discard many publications to create more shelving space.  We will have to destroy duplicates of conference journals which we have kept to share with persons or churches wanting them.  Available journals date back to 1923. Anyone interested in obtaining one of these extra copies may contact Mary Ann Pinkard at mpickard@hawks.huntingdon.edu
