Inner City Mission Needs a Helping Hand

The United Methodist Inner City Mission is in need of a small work team to install a couple of outside doors (20x80) that secure an outside equipment room. The Mission will provide the doors, we just need help with installation. If interested or have questions please contact Bob McBride 251-767-7526.

Wespath FAQs: General Conference 2019

The Special Session of the General Conference of The United Methodist Church (February 23-26, 2019; St. Louis, Missouri) acted on a report from the Commission on a Way Forward, which was authorized to examine paragraphs in The Book of Discipline concerning human sexuality and to explore options to strengthen church unity. [More details about General Conference 2019 are available on the UMC website: umc.org.]

Wespath has provided information on two pension-related petitions that were submitted by the Commission on a Way Forward and approved by the General Conference, as well as additional information related to General Conference 2019 outcomes and potential impacts on clergy benefits.

Snacks for Finals at USA Wesley Foundation

Finals week at the University of South Alabama is the last week in April.  If you would like to provide the Wesley Foundation students food or snacks for energy and stamina please drop items by the foundation.  Call or email Clay Smith at usawesley@gmail.com or (334) 796-1366 to find out a time when the building will be open to receive these items.

No one has signed up to provide the Tuesday meal for the students on April 30th but finger foods and snacks for the week would be a great substitute for this meal.  Thank you so much for all you do for Wesley!

Choir Robes for Churches in Africa

The Methodist church in Africa is experiencing tremendous growth.  Rev. Jim Kinder has had the privilege of partnering with our Methodist Missionaries Jean Claude Maleka and his wife Francine. They serve in Cote d’Ivoire on the continent of Africa.

As a new church is formed, one of the items that helps to bring it to life is choir robes. These robes are worn with pride and dignity. When they wear them, they serve as a symbol of joy and grace.

Unfortunately buying new robes are cost prohibitive. However, many churches in the US have old/unused choir robes. We have found a cost effect way to ship choir robes to Cote d’Ivoire and are asking churches to consider donating their unused choir robes to the ministries in Cote d’Ivoire.   Please contact Kim Doss at the Mobile District Office if you would like to donate at admin@mobileumc.com or 251-345-3313.
