News from Open Doors Resale and Thrift Store

Open Doors Resale and Thrift Store is excited to announce, as of the last distribution of 2019, the store has contributed $636,000 to our local Mobile UMC supported agencies! This happens because of prayers, volunteers and donations that come from all around our district. As the Lenten season approaches, please consider volunteering at one of our two stores. With your help 2020 will be our best year yet. For more information please contact me at 661-5661.

We are grateful our United Methodist connection which makes this ministry a blessing to our local agencies and our volunteers!

Request for Flood Relief Efforts

Bishop Graves has made a request that each congregation in the Alabama-West Florida Conference collect a special offering for the flood relief efforts in the Mississippi Conference. (Click here to find the message from Bishop Graves)  This offering should be sent to UMCOR as they are often the first line of relief after a natural disaster. You may send the offering directly to UMCOR (give online through this link) or mail checks to the conference office (designated for UMCOR Mississippi flooding). At the moment, ERT teams are not being requested.

Volunteer Opportunity at UMCOR Sager-Brown

St. Mark UMC has three openings to travel with their mission team to UMCOR Sager-Brown Disaster Relief Distribution Warehouse in Baldwin LA March 8-13, 2020. The cost of the trip is $275 per person for room and board. Participants must submit to a background check or provide documentation of a report completed within the last 3 years. Please contact the church office at 251-342-5861, M-Th 9-2 or at stmarkmobile@gmail.com to receive a trip packet or if you have any questions.

Blue Lake Seeks Summer Camp Staff

Blue Lake Camp is hiring summer staff. Please help them spread the word. They are looking for college-age adults who can commit 10 weeks of their summer to living at and working for Blue Lake. This is best for individuals who are passionate, excited, and willing to get their hands dirty. An ideal summer counselor is someone who can roll with the punches of summer camp (no two days are the same!) and is a team player. Contact Blue Lake here.
