Fountain of Love Offering Focuses On Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day, May 8th, has been approved for a Fountain of Love Offering emphasis in 2016. Because of the support of the Alabama-West Florida Conference and its churches, no resident has ever been asked to leave a Methodist Home because of their inability to pay. Last fiscal year the Fountain of Love awarded more than $410,000 to elderly residents in need. A large part of this program’s success is because of the churches that faithfully participate in a Fountain of Love Offering. Thank you, in advance, for making the Fountain of Love a priority in your church!

To order FREE Fountain of Love Offering materials online, visit http://www.methodisthomes.org/contactform.htm, and complete the form!  Though our emphasis is on Mother’s Day, offerings and speaker requests are honored throughout the year. For more information about the Fountain of Love or our Methodist Homes, explore our website or call 205-951-2442.

Annual Conference 2016 Wesley Heirs Luncheon

The Annual Conference Wesley Heirs Luncheon will be held on Monday, June 13, 2016, in Room 6102 at Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church.  The luncheon will begin immediately following the Memorial Service, approximately noon.  All retired ministers and spouses are invited to attend.
Our meal will be served in the room.  We will not have to go through the regular serving line.
Everyone needs to make a reservation(s) with Traci Herndon at the Conference Office.  Call her at 334-356-8014 or email her at traci@awfumc.org.  If you wish to make a reservation for Tuesday lunch and/or the Laity Banquet using the conference online system, DO NOT make a reservation(s) there for lunch on Monday.  Skip over that question.  This will avoid a double head count.
Everyone will need to pick up a ticket for the lunch from Traci Herndon at the registration desk Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. Everyone will need to turn in a ticket as we gather for the luncheon.  There is no charge for lunch but you do need a ticket.
We appreciate Traci helping us with our reservations and tickets and Rev. Rusty Taylor at Frazer for making the arrangements for us to be served in the room.
It will be a great time of fellowship, seeing long-time friends and sharing in the comradeship of the ministry that has meant so much to all of us over the years.  Plan to join in this gathering of Wesley Heirs.

Conference News for Youth Directors

If you are in youth ministry, you need a community of others working with teens to steal ideas from, ask policy questions, and find solutions to your current youth ministry conundrum. Once a year, the youth workers in the Alabama West-Florida Conference gather to do just that. We will discuss whatever we all need to discuss, get the details on the cool wookie game that worked last week, and eat lunch.

Sessions will be facilitated by Jeremy Steele (Christ UMC in Mobile), Chase Faulk (Frazer UMC in Montgomery) and Caroline Hare (Destin UMC in Destin).

The Youth Worker's Round Table will be at Huntingdon College in the Stallworth Dining Room from 10am - 2pm on Thursday, April 28.

Lunch will be $10. Please bring cash or checks (made out to AWFUMC) to the event.  Should you have questions about this event, contact Rev. Jeremy Steele at  cumcnextgen@gmail.com or go head and click here to register!
