Lay Servant Training

A 10-week Wednesday-night Basic Lay Servant course will be taught at Christ United Methodist Church at 6101 Grelot Road. The class will begin Jan. 9 and end Feb. 20. 

The course deals with the basics of the United Methodist Church - its beliefs, polity, and structure. Discussions will also cover servants' callings, spiritual gifts, and talents.

District Lay Servant Ministries Director John Sellers (604-4451) will teach the course.
 
The text,  Lay Servant Ministries Basic Course, (Participant's Book) is available online at Cokesbury, Upper Room, Amazon and Google Books. All participants should read the first chapter of the book before class begins.

One-hour classes will begin at 6 p.m. in Room A-207 


Clergy Pre-retirement Seminar

The Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits is sponsoring the annual pre-retirement seminar on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 and Wednesday, February 6, 2019.  The seminar will be held in Pensacola, Florida at the Pensacola Grand Hotel.

Individual retirement projections and consultations with Ronald Coleman and Robert Christophel  of Wespath will be conducted during the seminar.  Due to time limitations, participation is limited to the first 20 clergy persons with a paid registration.  Clergy persons must check the “Individual” registration.  If a spouse is attending check the appropriate block as well.

On-line registration is required. Payment may be made through PayPal accounts or through PayPal with a credit card.

Marriage Enrichment Retreats at Lake Junaluska

Pastoral participants earn 1.5 CEUs for participation in this program. This retreat is perfect for pastors who regularly do marriage counseling, or anyone who wants to strengthen the bond in their marriage.

Cost: Marriage Enrichment Program for two people: $350 
Two nights lodging for two people and five meals (Monday breakfast through Tuesday lunch) for two people (required): $319
