Imagine No Malaria Campaign

The Alabama West Florida Conferenceis very close to our goal of saving 100,000 lives and helping to wipe out malaria in Africa.  Although the Mobile District has already reached 107% of our goal, we want to try to help the rest of the conference finish this out.  The  AWF Conference has raised an amazing $960,000 toward our goal of $1,000,000 for Imagine No Malaria.  Only $5,000 from each of our 8 districts will put us over the top.

So in the next few weeks we want to give churches who desire a chance to go the second mile for Imagine No Malaria.  I don't want to make anyone or any church feel guilty.  We have met our goal.  Some churches have gone way beyond their goal (as much as 300%!) We can feel good about that.  But some of our sister churches in other districts have not been able to reach their goals, so if you feel led to participate in helping a bit more, now is the time to do that.  We already have an individual who has committed $1,000 toward this goal of $5,000 extra from the Mobile District.  So we are 20% of the way already!

Don't twist any arms.  Don't pressure anyone.  I feel sure we will meet this second mile goal just by making it known.  So spread the word to your congregation and let's see what God does.  Thank you for your joyful faithfulness.  I am proud of the Mobile District!

Churches In Need of Usable Vans

We have two churches in the Mobile District who are in need of a usable van for special ministries.  My last church donated a van to another church because it wasn't reliable enough to take on long trips, but it met the local needs of the other church just fine.  So if you have a van that needs a new home, consider these needs:

  1. A group in our new African American church start has a ministry to the homeless that has grown to where they need a larger vehicle for transporting the people they are ministering to.  As a new church start finances are tight, so they are in hopes that some church or some individual has a van that the Lord will lead them to donate for this cause.
  2. Sims Chapel UMC in the north part of our district is growing.  New people are coming to Christ.  Their youth ministry has grown beyond the use of of cars and they now need a van for transporting their young people.  They would be glad to receive a donated van or to purchase one at a modest price.
