Prayer Request:  Please keep Rev. Linwood Lewis in your prayers, he has been in Mobile Infirmary this week with an infection but is back at home now.  Linwood is currently serving Coden UMC here in the district.

Dear AWF trained Early Responders:

As you are probably aware, the storms last evening caused damage in Pensacola, as well as other places in the Alabama-West Florida conference. As of now, we have only heard a request from the Pensacola area for trained volunteers .

Early Response Teams with current UMCOR badges are needed in Pensacola on Thursday (tomorrow). Report to the Chamber of Commerce by 9 am in downtown Pensacola. The address is 117 West Garden Street.

This is a call especially to those ERTs in the Pensacola district and the neighboring districts.
As a reminder of your procedures, please notify your disaster response coordinator if you are deploying. That list is at this link: http://www.awfumc.org/districtdisasterresponsecoordinators
All forms and resources are on the conference website at this link: http://www.awfumc.org/resourcesandforms

Thank you for reaching out in Jesus' name to those who have been impacted by last night's storms.

Be ready for tornado season, and then hurricane season!

An ERT (early response team) training session will be held on Saturday, February 27, at Camden UMC, in Camden, AL, from 8am to 1pm. Learn the essentials of proper disaster response and receive a badge to join future emergency teams.

Register for Robert Lupton Event, sponsored by Communities of Transformation

Just how should we respond in compassion and love to those who ask the church for help? Come learn from Communities of Transformation (COT) and others who are doing just that. COT will host a gathering on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Daphne UMC and again on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Aldersgate UMC in Montgomery.  A bulletin insert may be found at the link below.

Hear from Robert Lupton, author of Toxic Charity. Bob has spent his entire career serving those who do not have sufficient resources. But, Bob has a very different strategy than most churches.

You will also have an opportunity to learn about COT. This ministry is engaging adults who live without enough… and the impact is remarkable.  You will learn about how COT is currently operating in six communities. Learn how you can make it happen in your community from the pastors, COT volunteers, participants and staff that are part of the change that is happening. Hear about the transformation that is occurring!  You will go home with information about the next steps to begin a Communities of Transformation ministry in your community, in your church.

This event is free and open to the public. We invite all churches, denominations, and communities to come and catch a vision of a different way of living in community with those who live on the margins. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what God is doing in Brewton, Dothan, Eufaula, Mobile, Phenix City and Selma.?Bring people that you worship with, that you work with, and that are your friends and next door neighbors.
