Game Changing Leadership

Balance in life and ministry is hard; especially as a pastor and the main financial leader in your congregation. We know every minute of your time is precious, so we condensed our Game Changing Leadership event into a one-day seminar where you will be surrounded by like-minded peers.

Game Changing Leadership is a one-day seminar focused on resourcing you with new tips and tools that can easily be put into place right away to foster a generous culture in your church, develop financial leadership skills, and improve your personal financial health.

Our goal is our pastors’ personal well-being, for congregations to thrive, and that the mission of the church be furthered.

Event Details:
• Cost: $20 (includes lunch, seminars, and resources)
• Speakers: Suzanne Krejcar (AWF Conference), Chris Stovall (Generis), Alan Wildes (Generis), and Terri Turner (UM Foundation)
• Locations: Thursday, September 5 at First United Methodist Crestview (FL) from 10am-2pm;
Friday, September 6 at First United Methodist Church Montgomery (AL) from 10am-2pm

Resisting Racism: A Required Diversity Training for AWF Clergy

In an effort to address and reduce the number of occurrences of unintentional and intentional racism within the Alabama-West Florida Conference, Bishop Graves is requiring all full-time appointed clergy and those part-time clergy whose schedules will allow to attend one of the three mandatory diversity trainings being offered throughout our Annual Conference in the month of September. At this training, clergy experts on this subject from outside of our Annual Conference will be equipping our clergy with the tools and knowledge needed to resist all forms of racism in their church and community.

There are three training opportunities; one held in the Mobile District at Christ UMC on September 26.  Deadline to register for this required training is Friday, September 6, 2019.  Click here to register or click here for more information.

Don't forget the students at USA Wesley Foundation

There are only 4 groups or individuals from the Mobile District signed up to provided a meal for our USA Wesley Foundation students.  Please let them know that they are important to us!  There are 18 opportunities for a church, Sunday school class, small group, or individual to share a meal during this school year.  Click here to find a date that you can provide a good meal and encourage these students as they worship and study God's word!

From AWF Methodist Archives Center

We need to clear some space at the Methodist Archives Center and have several duplicate copies of books  that we need to find a good home for.   (Diciplines, Bibles, Hymnals)  Most are in good shape and we hate to "toss" them!  Click here to find a list of what is available.  We also have a very nice podium that would be excellent for a Sunday School Class. The podium must be picked up but we can arrange to mail any of the books.

If you are interested email archives@hawks.huntingdon.edu or call (334) 833-4413.

District Tanzania Partnership Information Session

Damage Assessment Training

A Damage Assessment training session will be held at Wilmer UMC in the Fellowship Hall on 9/10/2019 from 6 to 9 PM.Participants in this class will learn how to assess the physical damage to a disaster-affected residence in order to plan and prepare for an Early Response Team (ERT) to safely access and secure the property from further damage.  Learn how to identify structural problems that impact ERT safety and effectiveness. The class will help identify tools useful for damage assessments and be reminded about sensitivity and discusses the needs with the home owner.  The class will use the step method to determine if a residence is appropriate for an Early Response Team or would better served by a specialized team or professional assistance.

This training is open to all people age 18 who have a current UMCOR ERT badge or will participate in ERT training soon.  (There will be a Basic ERT training event held at Wilmer UMC on Saturday, September 28 from 9:00am – 5:00pm.  More details on how to register for this event will be coming soon.)
