Huntingdon Leadership Academy for High School Students

The Huntingdon Leadership Academy (HLA)  is a youth theology institute that seeks to help rising high school juniors and seniors discern their call to ministry or Christian leadership. Our 2018 summer dates are Sunday, June 24 through Friday, June 29.  With calling as its primary theme, the Huntingdon Leadership Academy (HLA) engages students through a week-long summer experience. The week’s activities focus on discernment of each student’s calling to Christian leadership for ministerial vocation. Mentoring, discussion of current topics in the life of the church, cultural and mission-related events, and time for fun, praise, and worship are included. In addition, students participate in year-round spiritual growth through online engagement that continues students’ education, builds community, and promotes reflection on the Bible, Christian tradition, and students’ spiritual experiences.

Please encourage your students to consider registering for HLA 2018.  To register or for more info, visit www.huntingdon.edu/HLA

Harry Denman Nominations Accepted

For more than thirty years, The Foundation for Evangelism has been privileged to work with annual conferences to celebrate outstanding personal evangelism ministry of United Methodist Clergy, Laity and Youth by sponsoring the prestigious Harry Denman Evangelism Award. Since inception, more than 2,500 individuals have been honored.  Think of the multiplying impact on the lives of others these folks have made through their efforts to help people experience God’s transforming love through Jesus Christ!

The Harry Denman Evangelism Award is named for the founder of The Foundation for Evangelism.  Dr. Billy Graham wrote, “Harry Denman was one of the great mentors for evangelism in my own life and ministry… the thing people will remember above all about Harry Denman was his love of Christ and his desire to see others come to know Him.  He truly was one of those rare individuals whose impact will continue for generations to come.”

The Conference Board of Discipleship, Division of Evangelism, is now accepting nominations for The Harry Denman Evangelism Awards for clergy, lay, and youth.  Nominations should be submitted directly to Rev. Larry Anderson pastor@stluke-umc.org. Deadline is April 5.  Click here to find more information.
